**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Director, Research Agreements and Intellectual Property, the incumbent provides support and guidance to the Concordia research community in all matters related to the identification, disclosure, protection, and commercialization of research outcomes, and provide recommendations to orient research efforts to meet the present or future needs of potential end-users.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**- Meet with individual faculty members, research centers and groups to assist in identifying research outcomes with commercial potential, and provide recommendations to orient research efforts to meet the present or future needs of potential end-users.-
- Sensitize Concordia’s research community to internal and external resources available in support of protection, commercialization and entrepreneurship activities;-
- Market Concordia’s intellectual property portfolio, which includes identifying and matching Concordia’s research community and intellectual property portfolio with potential licensees and/or end-users seeking to co-develop technologies and inventions resulting from research activities undertaken at Concordia.-
- Collaborate with Senior Specialist, Intellectual Property and, where appropriate, external commercialization partners to develop strategies to promote successful outcomes for the protection and commercialization of Concordia’s Intellectual Property portfolio.Draft, review and negotiate intellectual property agreements, including without limitation co-development, license, and patent protection related agreements. In consultation with the Director, assess appropriateness of the terms and conditions of such agreement.-
- Support Director in developing and implementing strategies to promote growth in the quality and quantity of declarations of inventions, and commercialization of research outcomes at Concordia.-
- Perform other duties in support of the unit.**REQUIREMENTS**- Master’s degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years pertinent work experience. PhD is an asset.-
- Advanced knowledge of intellectual property management, commercialization strategies and practices.Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English and good knowledge (Level 4) of French language skills.-
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.-
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.-
- Demonstrated pro-active attitude and problem-solving skills.-
- Customer-service oriented.-
- Knowledge of local, national and international commercialization eco-system is desirable.Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English.
