Position Overview:
We are looking for dedicated and passionate role models who are committed to serving our community and making a positive impact on youth through our weekly summer programs.
As part of our City of Kitchener Youth Services team, you will work with your team lead and fellow leaders to organize and implement nightly activities for youth in a fun and relaxed environment.
- Youth Leaders at community centre sites will deliver indoor recreational programming such as sports, art and crafts, and games for youth ages 12-17. Youth Leaders with Doon Skatium will help deliver a variety of outdoor skatepark activities for children and youth ages 8-17.

**Employment Dates**: June 16 - August 22, 2025 (Skatium leaders
- end date August 29, 2025)
- No work scheduled on June 26, 27 and 30th and on statutory holidays (July 1 and August 4).
**T**raining dates**: June 16-20 and June 23-25, 2025, 6:00pm-10:00pm. **Please Note: ALL training in-person and online is required and mandatory to complete prior to start of program/camp**.**
**Hours of work**:6:00pm-10:00pm, Monday-Friday
- The Doon Skatium program is an outdoor program. Hours of work for skatium staff will change in August due to diminishing daylight to 5:00pm-9:00pm
**Responsibilities**:
- Actively participate in creating a high-energy team ensuring to collaborate and communicate effectively with all team members
- Assist your team lead in the planning of creative and engaging programs, activities, and special events
- Promote inclusion and belonging by seeking youth input on program ideas and ensuring the safe engagement of all participants
- Consistently demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm in delivering high-quality and impactful youth programming, ensuring active participation and meaningful experiences for all participants
- Actively participate in the delivery of program plans, leading various youth activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, etc. Centre-based youth leaders will be assigned to one site. Doon Skatium mobile skatepark leaders will deliver mobile skatepark program at various sites across the city.
- Positively support youth in their efforts to try new activities, develop new skills
- Role-model positive behavior for youth (teamwork, responsibility, initiative, and sportsmanship)
- Supervise participants at all times and, as a team, address unsafe and unacceptable behavior
- Assist youth participants to work together to resolve problems and conflicts
- Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and program equipment
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of program equipment and supplies.
- Ensure safe use, condition, and storage of equipment
- Complete records and reports including program registration, accident/incident reports, damage reports, and safety checklists.
- Provide first aid as required.
- Proudly represent the City of Kitchener by providing quality programming and customer service
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum level of education - completion or partial completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent)
- Minimum 1 month of related experience preferred.
- Minimum age requirement - must be at least 18 years of age or older by the first day of employment, unless otherwise specified
- Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate
- Provide a satisfactory **Vulnerable Sector Check
