**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

This position manages the operations and staff of Support & Community Service providing leadership in the delivery of pre and post analytical laboratory services at designated sites and facilities within VIHA - SI. Continually assesses the quality of the service, setting into motion improvement measures to provide quality customer service; ensures compliance with legislative regulations, collective agreement provisions and organizational policy; directs assigned resources, recruits and supervises staff

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a university degree in Medical Laboratory Science.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Five years experience working in a laboratory with two years in a supervisory or management role or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Laboratory principles, procedures, and workflow.
- Effective meeting management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with technical, operational, and vendor staff.
- Knowledge and practice in effective problem solving techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self motivated, able to work with mínimal direct supervision with excellent leadership and organizational qualities.
- Able to work as part of a multi-functional team.
