**JOB SUMMARY**:Reporting to the Senior Manager of Health Services and Housing, as the Kitchen Supervisor, your main responsibility will be to oversee all aspects of the kitchen's operations in order to serve nutritious meals that help support the residents’ overall health and well-being. Additionally, you will provide leadership and training to kitchen staff, Building Futures Participants, volunteers, and community members, while prioritizing the use of a trauma-informed and culturally safe approach when working with residents.

**ABOUT US**:Siloam Mission is a Christian-based non-profit service organization for Manitobans who have experienced homelessness and who struggle with mental health issues, physical and cognitive disabilities, addictions or trauma. Founded in 1987, Siloam Mission provides emergency shelter, meals and clothing, supportive housing and a variety of healing, support and recovery services to help people transform their own lives and reach their full potential.

**Hours of Work**:Full time 40 hours per week, 8 hours a day. Schedule based on the support needs of?individuals in the program, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**:
Budget Management & Reporting
- Effectively manage the budget of the department and assist in the annual budget process;
- Responsible for menu planning, food ordering, inventory management, and overseeing the preparation and serving of meals;
- Involve residents in kitchen planning when possible;
- Manage and keep a record of meals, emergency hampers, etc.
- Collaborate kitchen teams throughout Siloam Mission to facilitate food sharing and distribution;
- Generate reports as requested;
Leadership
- Serving, supervising, scheduling, training, and evaluation as necessary kitchen staff and volunteers while upholding the kitchen Mission Statement;
- Assist in training staff to support the team's development;
- Assess staff to develop their skills and abilities and provide opportunities for leadership roles.;
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals;
- Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback;
- Work closely with volunteers and other departments to ensure that the kitchen is operating smoothly and that the needs of the community are being met;
Health & Safety
- Ensure kitchen staff and volunteers are following the City of Winnipeg health standards for meal preparation, kitchen cleanliness, and safety while providing nutritious meals in a timely manner to the community
- Assist staff in making decisions pertaining to safety measures in the Kitchen;
- Create opportunities through services and programs for the promotion of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health;
- Support and execute Health and Safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines;
- Support and enforce policies to establish a culture of Health and Safety;
- Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures;
- Monitor the condition of the Kitchen and be aware of any damage to facilities or property owned, request repairs, and report issues directly to management;
- Ensures that staff report accidents or incidents to WCB (Workers Compensation Board) and assist in compensation claims, if needed;
Administrative
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager of Health Services and Housing

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING**:

- 3 years working in a high-volume catering environment;
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate;
- Certificate in or willingness to obtain Cultural Awareness, Anti-Oppressive Practice, NVCI, ASIST, WIMIS, PHIA, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Trauma Informed best practices;
**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIOURS**
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and changing environment;
- Basic knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and food costing;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Effective problem-solving abilities;
- Wide range of cooking techniques and knowledge of local and exotic ingredients;
- Ability to operate, clean, and perform basic maintenance on commercial kitchen and warehouse equipment;
- Collaborative work style with the ability to promote inclusivity and work well with a diverse staff team;
