**Position**: North Fraser Youth First Outreach Worker (NFYFOW)

**35 hours per week -- $24 per hour**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- Work from a person-centered, strengths-based approach to assess strengths and needs of youth and families.
- Provide one-to-one support and outreach of youth who have multiple risk factors including: mental health, addictions, and complex behaviors such as FASD and/or developmental delays and/or are involved in high-risk activities (e.g. sexual exploitation, criminal activity, street involvement, or self-harm).
- One-to-one service to adjudicated and non-adjudicated youth.
- Provide goal-focused intervention through assessing client needs and developing service plans to assist youth/family achieve objectives.
- Deliver support and education to family/caregiver where required.
- Community outreach.
- Facilitate life skills training in both individual and group settings.
- Maintain timely and accurate reports and file documentation in accordance with COA administrative and service standards.
- Work in a collaborative practice model with community agencies and organizations.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A Bachelor of Arts in the social sciences or human services or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of youth and family services.
- Knowledge of working with mental health and complex developmental behavioral conditions.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and issues related to at-risk youth.
- Knowledge of sexual exploitation and experience working with sexually exploited youth.
- Knowledge of the legislation and policies that govern service delivery in the social service sector.
- Knowledge of collaborative practice and working effectively with a variety of community partners.
- Well-developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Exceptional report writing skills.
- Class 5 license and vehicle required; Class 4 or willingness to get an asset.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule to accommodate client needs; evening/weekend work may be required.
- First Aid certification required.
