**Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families has the following position available**:
**Position**: Housing Case Manager

**Location**:40 Begbie Street, New Westminster, B.C.

**Hours**: 35 hours per week, flexible hours on occasion

This program aims to support people without housing to explore housing options. The Housing Case Manager will develop community connections to build supports around the clients to enhance livability options via resources and referrals. This will include developing relationships with: the local office of the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, agencies that provide basic household items, community food support programs, employment programs, legal advocacy and other community supports to connect clients to appropriate services to enhance their success to transition to being housed. This program will work in collaboration with existing housing and support services available in the Lower Mainland. Coverage for other Housing Support Managers in other Purpose Society locations will be required when needed.

**Duties**:
The primary duty of the Housing Case Manager is to find and build an inventory of housing options for individuals and families looking for housing.
- On-going case management support to assist clients to address barriers related to livability issues.
- Community outreach - to identify individuals and families who are experiencing and/or at risk of homelessness in the City of New Westminster.
- Assist clients in conducting housing searches with a creative and realistic approach to the current housing market.
- Assist clients to prepare for meeting potential landlords and reviewing what a landlord will ask of a prospective tenant.
- If necessary, direct clients to shelters for emergency/temporary shelter until permanent shelter is available.
- Develop a good knowledge of other community service providers as well as other support services provided by Purpose Society.
- Build relationships with advocacy groups geared towards national/local subsidy programs.
- Build relationships with representatives from government agencies, such as Fraser Health (mental health), Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction (Social Assistance), and Royal Columbian Hospital (social workers).
- Build relationships with other community service providers who have services which may benefit clients.
- Build relationships with local shelters.
- Build relationships with legal advocacy programs.
- Build relationships with landlords.
- Develop knowledge of providers of subsidized housing and programs with housing subsidies.
- Coordinate services for clients provided by Housing Outreach Workers with other community agencies.
- Educate landlords about the support needs of vulnerable individuals.
- Develop a housing inventory.
- Where appropriate provide advocacy and support regarding tenancy issues on behalf of clients.
- Support clients in referrals to other agencies providing advocacy services required by clients.
- Maintain an inventory of housing options in various communities. - Build eligibility criteria and referral pathways that will support future coordination of resources.
- Collect program data to evaluate client outcomes and inform future program planning.
- Collect and maintain client data in the HIFIS computerized case management system.
- Generate and/or maintain Excel budget sheets to track budget of financial supports given.
- Ability to generate and maintain information for required reporting - monthly and bi
- monthly reports.
- Ability to use, and/or willing to learn, social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram for outreach and marketing of program and landlord outreach.

**Qualifications**:

- 2-year diploma in a relevant field, such as social work, community health, mental health, and addictions studies or equivalent
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude
- Experience working with a variety of people who may be under stress.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations
- A good understanding of the rental housing market
- Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing approach is required
- Ability to problem-solve with creative solutions when dealing with housing searches and partnerships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- A car is an asset
- Valid BC 5 driver’s license.
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- Clear criminal records check
