**The role**

The Project Manager is the hub and logístical lead of book publications at Page Two, and will work directly with authors, contractors, vendors, and in-house publishing teams (including editorial, design, production, sales, and marketing departments) to execute book projects from conception to publication and beyond.

The Project Manager manages approximately 15-25 publishing projects at any given time, depending on the project’s scope of work. They hold a deep knowledge of the book publishing process and of Page Two’s defined processes. They create, communicate, and coordinate publishing plans and strategies in close partnership with authors, contractors, vendors, and in-house teams. They mitigate project risks and monitor progress to ensure the project meets or exceeds expectations, and they enjoy fostering positive, motivating relationships with authors and all stakeholders along the way.

As an enthusiastic, organized, and customer-service-oriented project manager, you have a proven track record in managing projects efficiently with small
- to medium-sized teams. You are comfortable leading teams and building relationships in person and virtually. You express clear directives, expectations, and goals, and you follow up with stakeholders with consistency and attentiveness. You love strategizing, planning, and creative, collaborative problem-solving to mitigate risks and identify the best solutions. You have a keen sense for people and what motivates them and have strong leadership intuition.

You are interested in all aspects of the publishing process and can identify new trends or efficiencies that could lead to a better product and/or customer experience. You are driven to enhance Page Two’s profile through your work in author care, author advocacy, and customer service.

The Project Manager reports to the Production Director and is part of the Production Department at Page Two. This is not a managerial, directorial, or supervisory role. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing projects to which different members of staff are assigned some responsibility or involvement.

This is a full-time position.

**In addition to the above, your responsibilities will include**:

- Onboarding and offboarding authors and publishing projects according to a defined process.
- Proactively educating authors and other stakeholders in many different aspects of book publication strategy and logistics (e.g. sharing information about standard printing and shipping timeframes).
- Creating and managing project schedules.
- Planning and leading project meetings.
- Guiding and leading authors and other stakeholders to make decisions and approvals that move the project forward with efficiency and in accordance with best practices.
- Actively listening to author and team concerns, promoting creative and collaborative problem-solving, and managing the resolution of product-related and project-related issues.
- Managing the creation and timely delivery of all book products and aspects by authors, contractors, vendors, and in-house teams according to defined processes (e.g. shepherding a manuscript through the ‘Build a Book’ workflow, inputting metadata into Biblio content management system, and acquiring production quotes for book printing and audiobook production).
- At times, providing quality assurance and feedback on deliverables.
- Resourcing project work to available staff, contractors, and vendors (e.g. hiring editorial freelancers and booking printers).
- Liaising with accounting to help manage project costs and client invoicing.
- Staying informed of cross-departmental operations as they pertain to project planning.

**Experience required**:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in publishing (or a certification in publishing) with a strong, proven track record in project management or team leadership work.
- Communications experience or educational background is an asset.
- Experience working with authors, editors, designers, printers, production companies, and marketing and sales teams is an asset.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and demonstrable follow-through.
- Skillful at building relationships.
- Works well in a hybrid in-person and remote team environment.

**What we offer**

$50,000 to $60,000 per year based on experience
