**About **Ventures & Ecosystems Group (V&E)**:
This role resides within the V&E group at MaRS. V&E works with over 1400 innovation-driven science and technology startups. V&E helps entrepreneurs commercialize innovations with high business growth potential in Canada and globally by facilitating access to the customer, talent, funding, marketing and stakeholder connections required to successfully scale their business.
**About the role**:
In this role, the Analyst will work closely with MaRS teams/partners to lead and support innovative companies with high-impact market research to launch, grow, and scale their ventures. Additionally, the Analyst will collaborate with the Market Intelligence team to understand venture client’s needs and develop research assets and tools to continually improve their service offerings for ventures.
**Key **Responsibilities**:
- Lead and support the successful delivery of high impact MI market research projects focused on startup research needs by: scoping the project, creating a project proposal and framework, conducting research and analysis, having frequent check-in’s with ventures, and presenting recommendations and findings, to help them progress against their challenges, and achieve their milestones.
- Reviewing market research questions from early-stage companies and curating relevant secondary market research reports through database searches, that help startups address key questions/challenges around market sizing, market segmentation, market trends, customer insights, or competitors.
- Working closely with colleagues to develop strategies and methodologies to elevate the team’s market research capabilities and refine service offering, and collaborating with MI team and other teams to iterate on product offerings to improve customer experience and drive growth.
- Act as a thought leader for MaRS by developing content and products (such as whitepapers, articles, Guides, etc.) in order to share knowledge widely across the organization and externally on specific topics (e.g. sector, market, product, methodology, etc.).
- Provide mentorship and support to more junior and newer analysts such as walking through processes, reviewing research projects/work developed by other analysts, etc. in order to ensure high quality product deliverables across all MI product offerings.
- Ensures diligent and updated reporting and documentation of client interactions and engagements on Salesforce, Asana and other relevant platforms, to maintain team visibility into updated venture challenges, future project pipeline and general bandwidth. At times, may support internal operational efficiency projects.
- Present service offerings/workshops to internal teams or external partners/clients when needed.
- At times will support or lead internal/external tasks, projects or secondments for strategic partners/teams.
**Qualifications**:
- Completed Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree or Market Research Certification an asset
- 2+ years of experience in scoping and designing research projects, drafting project proposals, executing market research studies and managing project timelines
- 1 year of experience in leading research projects
- 1 year of client-facing experience
- In-depth knowledge and interest in Health and/or Cleantech
- Passionate about entrepreneurship, innovative technology & market research
- Comfortability working with ambiguous situations
- Organized, efficient and able to plan and manage time effectively
- Able to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and external clients
- Client management skills; ability to communicate with tact/sensitivity
