We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable intern to assist in spreading awareness about Circles for Reconciliation (CFR) particularly within First Nations, Inuit, and Metis (FNIM) communities in Ontario, with a focus on engaging more youth in our circles and reconciliation efforts. Under the supervision of our team, the intern will assist with community outreach, developing youth-focused marketing materials, social media, planning and executing events, and performing some administrative tasks.

**Duties and Responsibilities:
- Brainstorm with team to develop new strategies for increasing FNIM and youth engagement in reconciliation - Support photo/video content shoots
- Ensure brand message is consistent across all mediums
- Research FNIM youth-driven reconciliation initiatives across Canada
- Follow like-minded organisations’ content related to reconciliation, share/post current up-dated news, and events across Canada
- Assist in planning and staffing live and online events
- Provide administrative support to staff as required
- Attend scheduled CFR staff meetings, events and workshops

The Youth Engagement Community Outreach intern will be part of the CreateAction program and will join a national network of youth through peer learning and evaluation activities delivered by the program partners: the Canadian Community Economic Development Network, the National Association of Friendship Centres, and Social Research and Demonstration Corporation.

This placement will allow the intern to observe the tremendous capacities of communities and individuals to initiate systems change through FNIM perspectives; and will help the intern develop a deeper understanding of community development and reconciliation with each other. Through a combination of mentorship, skill building and work experience, the intern will grow to understand the social, political, cultural and economic factors that contribute to the FNIM experience in Canada today.

The aim of Circles for Reconciliation Inc. is to establish trusting, meaningful relationships between FNIM and non-Indigenous peoples as part of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s the 94 Calls to Action. The means to achieve this is the creation of sharing circles of an equal number of FNIM people and non-Indigenous people in sharing circles. We conduct both in-person and online circles organized by geographic location or an established group.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Self-Identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Strong work ethic showing initiative
- Knowledge of MS Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Event Brite, Canva
- Familiar with business social media best practices and platforms (Facebook, Instagram)
- Natural desire to connect with people and foster positive relationships
- Project management skills: time management, scheduling meetings, locations and vendors for events Ability to multitask with several project details
- Organizational and administrative skills
- Research skills to increase outreach and expand community networks
