- Vancouver, BCCoSA VFX Vancouver is looking for a detail-oriented **Payroll and Benefits Administrator** to join our BC-based finance team. While being based in British Columbia, this role will support the Canadian and US payroll operations and report to the Financial Controller.

This is a unique opportunity for a payroll professional looking to use their business experience in a non-corporate entertainment environment. As an integral part of our global studio, its responsibilities focus on payroll processing and systems, as well as building and developing new and improved processes and methodologies as CoSA transitions to new HRIS and financial software systems. The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will collaborate with both the finance and human resources teams to ensure accurate payment of compensation and benefits processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- CoSA’s multi-national payroll functions by:

- Plan and execute biweekly, monthly, and annual payroll, and support tax remittances and finance activities.
- Support the standardization and optimization of the payroll process, including automation, and system upgrades.
- Interpret and understand provincial, state, and federal payroll laws to comply with regulatory reporting agencies, as well as family support, garnishments, and other deductions, etc.
- Assist with any annual reporting, benefit auditing, audit reports and internal controls while ensuring compliance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to payroll and benefits administration.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits and payroll matters.
- Support the strategic development plan for long-term payroll services
- Ensures that the payroll system is up-to-date and maintained, supports the integration and leverage of automation opportunities
- Collaborate with the HR (Human Resources) team on their payroll responsibilities and ensure documentation is updated and accurate, ensuring seamless service
- Monitor and provide oversight to the employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans, ensuring that all vendor matters are dealt with timely and that employee plans are set up correctly and reconciled regularly.
- Project-based work that includes but is not limited to; project management and assistance in the implementation of the UKG Payroll and HRIS system, as well as any other assigned implementation needs for the Finance.
- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Payroll certification from a recognized Payroll Institute or Payroll Association
- At least 5 years of payroll experience with payrolls of a minimum of 100 employees
- Strong knowledge of US/Canadian provincial, state, and federal payroll legislation
- Ability to identify, and address issues/concerns proactively while following approved protocols
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and ability to pay close attention to detail while ensuring thorough documentation and audit trails.
- Proven oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage stress
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Experience in entertainment, digital media, or technology is a big plus
- Knowledge of UKG and Quickbook systems an asset
