Plant Controller

The Plant Controller reports to the Director of Accounting and will be a key member of the Welland Plant Management Team, overseeing financial reporting for over $250M CAD of annual production. The Plant Controller is responsible for all financial aspects on site, including maintaining accurate financial records, budgeting, forecasting, analyzing and reviewing financial performance at the Welland facility. The Plant Controller will oversee product costing and maintain proper inventory records including standard rate setting, annual standard cost roll, cycle count programs, and obsolescence and aging reviews. The Plant Controller is expected to use their knowledge of the financials to drive the Plant performance by helping to set and achieve financial. The Plant Controller will also be responsible for developing and maintaining Plant-level financial controls and monitoring compliance with all accounting policies.

**Essential Responsibilities**
- Analyze and organize data appropriately by anticipating the internal client’s expectations
- Execute Factory finance responsibilities in close cooperation with Welland and Waukesha management team including:
- Budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting
- Oversee and maintaining accurate product costing model including annual standard cost roll, and maintaining proper valuation of inventory
- Analyze variances and proactively communicate explanations to management with recommended actions
- Align plant productivity with transparent financial targets
- Implement and track cost and working capital optimization programs
- Assist the Welland team in development of capital project financial justifications.
- Create transparency on all factory spend categories like Tools, Supplies, Maintenance, Scrap, Rework, Purchased Services and implement optimization programs
- Ensure Integration of all Welland finance activities with the Waukesha finance and accounting team
- Ensure planning, forecasting and reporting requirement and deadlines are met
- Have site leadership for the Welland finance team, evaluate and coach existing team, build a high performance finance team
- Provide proactive consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
- Monitor and implement plant internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
- Determine and maintain all accounting principles and processes and ensure compliance to IFRS/ US GAAP regulations.
- Implement a controls-based approach to all financial processes
**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 8 years of accounting or finance experience in a complex environment in a Plant Controller or Public Accounting role
- Oracle experience is a plus
- Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/ US GAAP
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues while managing multiple tasks
- Extensive knowledge of business operations
- Ability to travel up to 10%
