**About the role**

In this role you will incorporate lean practices in the safe distribution of blood products and transportation of staff, donors, and volunteers. You will also ensure that fleet repairs, maintenance and resources are deployed in a fiscally responsible manner. Collaboration, respect and integrity are essential in this role.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Prepares maintains and posts work schedules for Logistics personnel.
- Retrieves Event Scheduling System (ESS) reports as required and enters transportation detail in the system.
- Maintains the What’s Your Type schedule for pick-up and delivery of supplies.
- Maintains Lifebus Schedule.
- Assigns drivers to each work shift according to collective agreement and hours of service requirements.
- Provides input to the supervisor in the creation of staff schedules and identifies all work shifts required.
- Revises driver’s daily work schedule to accommodate changing work flow
- Assesses and plans vehicle and staff resources allocation to meet daily operational requirements.
- Liaises with other departments such to review daily task requirements and deploy department resources efficiently and appropriately.
- Plans the utilization of the fleet to meet requirements including staff and donor shuttles, Blood Transportation Vehicles, and hospital deliveries.
- Schedules new employee orientation and training and assists with training ensuring safety practices and procedures are adhered to.
- Maintains training records for employees such as confirmation of employee training.
- Utilizes the Vehicle Maintenance Program to ensure that fleet operational standards are met.
- Schedules vehicle maintenance in accordance with Transportation Rules and Procedures Manual.
- Assists in coordinating fleet preventative maintenance, government inspections, and schedules vehicle repairs and maintenance with vendors.
- Records fleet costs in the fleet management system.
- Verifies fuel chits with the fleet fuel program and raises anomalies with Supervisor/Manager.
- Assists with the procurement of materials and services for the BCY region.
- Creates purchase requisitions in SAP for the procurement of materials and services.
- Follows up on outstanding requisitions/orders.
- Procures materials using approved purchasing card.
- Maintains Purchase Order Log.
- Reviews and/or researches new and/or existing materials and services.
- Reports supplier performance issues to Head Office Purchasing in a timely manner.
- Provides SAP reports upon request.
- Provides general information to internal customers on CBS Purchasing Policy and Procedures.
- Provides relief in the absence of the Regular Supply Technician.

**Required Skills**:

- Grade 12, supplemented by accounting courses plus four years’ recent related experience, including 2 years related driver/dispatcher experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- BC Class 4 unrestricted Drivers License.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.

**Additional Information**:
Works: Monday through Friday from 0700-1500. Rest days: Saturday and Sunday.
