This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of college grounds and working on a variety of maintenance projects. The incumbent will be expected to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, operate tools and equipment and contribute to a positive and safe work environment at all times.

**Start date**: May 2024

**End date**: August 2024

**Location**: On-site, Red Deer Polytechnic

**Job Duties**

Landscaper duties include:

- Maintaining college grounds
- Working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Mowing lawns, planting, weeding, watering and pruning plants as directed
- Controlling insects and disease as directed
- Picking up litter
- Contributing to a positive and safe work environment at all times
- Installing items with power tools
- Painting and completing other minor maintenance projects as requested

**Required Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Strong work ethic, attendance record and productivity in an independent work environment (demonstrated through previous employment or volunteer experience)
- Strong customer service, teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to perform basic labouring activities, including heavy lifting and exert frequent physical effort

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Ride-on mower experience is an asset
- Experience with power tools, gas powered mowers, tiller, electric clippers, edgers and weed trims is preferred
