Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB) is a national, charitable organization founded in 1984. The organization does not receive any ongoing government funding and relies heavily on public support and funding to provide Canadians with greater mobility and independence through the use of professionally trained guide dogs (nationally) and mobility assistance dogs (Ottawa area).

**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Event Planning and Management**:
- Coordinate, organize, and execute events, including fundraisers, community outreach events, and corporate functions.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, transportation, and setup/cleanup.
- Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Liaise event information to colleagues in communications for social media, press releases etc.
- Manage event registration, attendee communications, and on-site event execution.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess success and identify areas for improvement.
**Volunteer Coordination**:
- Recruit, interview, and select volunteers for various programs and events.
- Develop and implement training programs for volunteers.
- Schedule and coordinate volunteer activities and ensure proper placement.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and activities.
- Recognize and reward volunteers for their contributions.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all non dog related volunteer inquiries and concerns.
**Administrative Support**:
- Maintain event and volunteer databases.
- Prepare reports on volunteer and event activities.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- Post Secondary education in Event Management, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in event planning and volunteer coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization.
- Certification in event planning or volunteer management.
