**A Day in the Life**

Reporting to the Manager, Community Relations, the Community Relations Advisor is accountable for the development and maintenance of strong and effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including faculty, staff and departments, and with external partners, agencies and organizations. The Advisor will support the achievement of Brock’s strategic priorities for community engagement and tracking progress, and its commitment to being an open, welcoming, and accessible resource to the community.

**As the** **Community Relations Advisor, you will**:

- Identify, organize, and coordinate engagement opportunities and support the proactive management of relationships with internal stakeholders and community partners;
- Exercise judgement and initiative in developing communications and research materials to advance Memorandums of Understanding, projects, proposals, and initiatives;
- Liaise between the Community Relations team, and other staff and faculty across the institution, coordinating community engagement deliverables, expediting workflow and managing deadlines;
- Attend, participate in, and report back on community events and meetings;
- Lead logistics for events, campus visits, and meetings;
- Lead and advise on measurements and reporting on the success of events against established goals;
- Lead and advise on the development, maintenance, and communication of events and reporting on the success of the events against established goals;
- Develop and disseminate communication and reporting materials to both internal and external stakeholders;
- Manage general community inquiries to the University related to partnerships and community engagement issues, and escalate to the Manager as appropriate.

**What you need to Succeed**
- A University degree in a related field and/or discipline;
- Relevant experience in community relations, communications, stakeholder relations, or a similar field. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Relevant experience in written communications needed to create, revise, update and enhance communications and community engagement documents and related materials;
- Interpersonal, diplomacy, and oral/written communication skills to facilitate communications with internal and external stakeholders;
- Organizational, research, planning, and project management skills;
- Understanding of the impact of communications on the organization and the importance of positive public opinion for and positive public interactions with the University;
- Commitment to organization’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion values;
- High level of sensitivity, diplomacy, tact, and discretion.

**Preferred or Asset Skills**:

- Previous experience working for/with local Niagara and surrounding region community stakeholders;
- Previous experience in facilitating public consultation processes or engagement;
- A graduate degree in a relevant field.

**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Grade L, Salary Scale ($57,518 - $78,479)*;
- This position includes full comprehensive benefits, including tuition waiver.
