**The Position**:
Under the general supervision of the Housing Manager, this position is responsible for assisting the Director and the department with a wide variety of tasks to support the effective and efficient delivery of housing services on shishalh Nation lands. This position is responsible for effective communications with community members, Housing Trustees and other outside agencies. **This is a temporary position that may become full-time.**
- Provide day-to-ay support to the Housing Director by preparing memos, legal documents, correspondence, and other documents as necessary.
- File documents as required.
- Draft routine correspondence to community members and outside agencies for the Housing Trustees’ review and signature.
- Maintain all records for housing units, including unit classification, ownership status and other relevant history and information.
- Maintain a record of all applicants, tenants and former tenants, ensuring that all relevant information and documents are updated.
- Coordinate routine home repairs by receiving calls from community members, requesting quotes, and/or preparing work orders for signature.
- Schedule and organize meetings of the Housing Trustees, take minutes at housing meetings, type and distribute minutes after meetings.
- Assist with tenant relations through workshops, communication, and educational training for tenants.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding housing and community-member information.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position, as assigned.

**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Post-secondary training in Office Administration or Aboriginal Studies is an asset.
- Two (2) years of experience in an administrative role.
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and office equipment.
- Analytical skills, sound judgement and decision-making skills are required to assess situations and determine the best possible outcomes.
- Ability to communicate professionally with external agencies and sensitively with clients.
- Knowledge of shíshálh culture and community members is an asset.
- General understanding of the overlapping relationships with other departments in relation to land and land use management activities.
- Ability to research, analyze and interpret data. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Ability to use common sense to problem-solve.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in the organization, communities and federal and provincial representatives.
- Possession of a valid BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
