**Job Description**:
**Responsibilities**
- Accountable for overall lab operations, EAB assets, the scope, and the lab operations strategy
- Approves deviations from scope and specs, standards, and procedures
- Ensure proper document, quality control and auditing process are in place
- Establish strategic direction to ensure effective delivery of laboratory services that will meet customer requirements through optimization of laboratory resources, manpower planning and process optimization
- Safe and efficient operation of the laboratory to ensure consistent delivery of quality service to customers
- Selection of test methods to ensure suitability for customers and appropriateness for the business
- Ensure effective implementation of regulatory, quality, safety as well as applicable employment standards.
- Ensure QA/QC program is implemented
- Ensure Sample Manager database is developed, Lab Manager Job Description & Lab Tech Job Description maintained, and operational for real-time analytical data reporting.
- Ensure the Laboratory training program is developed and delivered to meet it’s EH&S, quality, and personnel development requirements.
- Ensure new equipment is procured, commissioned, validated, and implemented in compliance with policies.
- Ensure all equipment is operable through defined preventive maintenance plans and repairs are undertaken as needed.
- Negotiate any commercial requirements for equipment and service providers (for repairs, replacements, maintenance, etc.)
- Management of overall EAB Lab budget
- Manage Relationship with Contractors
- Approve non-conformances with timely follow up
- Lead and develop the Laboratory team

**Daily Activities**
- Attends daily toolbox talk, Scope Change Work review meetings, Daily Morning Production Meetings, Control of Work Meetings
- Manage and communicate priorities to the EAB Lab team
- Liaison between other EAB functions & communicate requirements to the laboratory team
- Reviews NCR’s, Safety performance, results issues
- Meets with CFT for status update: discuss deviations from plan, risks, etc.
- Develop and approve the technical Scope of Work
- KPIs and driving performance against these KPIs
- When needed work with the Lab Techs.

**Qualifications**:
**Qualifications**
- Prefer a BSc Chemistry or CET with previous Laboratory Manager experience.
- 10+ years relevant industry experience
- Strong technical knowledge and process skills, particularly knowledge / experience with start-up and commissioning of a Laboratory
- Strong analytical chemistry and instrumentation background is required.
- Advanced working knowledge chemistry and lab instruments
- Complete understanding of design parameters and department KPIs
- Prior experience with commercial arrangements including working closely with management teams - superb relationship building skills to enable interaction with other groups
- Extensive knowledge in Gas Chromatography
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to think strategically
- Strong leadership skills and strong verbal and written communication skill.
- Must process extensive knowledge on method development - method validation and implementation.
- Strong analytical chemistry and instrumentation background is required.
- Good knowledge of relevant ASTM, CGSB or other standard methods of analysis.
- Experience with LIMS
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, develop, and lead a skilled professional staff.
- Experience implementing principals of a lab quality management system (ISO 17025).
