EllisDon’s role in the commissioning process is to manage and coordinate commissioning activities including ensuring that consultants, trades & sub-trades perform their duties, and integration of commissioning into the construction process and Works schedule. EllisDon takes the lead on all system installation and commissioning activities & has an active role from the design to turn over phases of the project.
**You as a Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Coordinator will**:
- Have fluency with all commissioning processes and deliverables covered in ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED commissioning requirements
- Understand Mechanical, Electrical and Technology equipment/systems and associated commissioning activities
- Monitor, review, and execute all facets of Commissioning by providing exceptional technical and field activities.
- Ensure EllisDon’s (and their sub trades) work meets contracted requirements.
- Drive the development of commissioning activities in the construction schedule and assist Project Managers and Superintendents in updating and achieving schedule requirements, mechanical and electrical RFI’s and shop drawings and administrate mechanical/electrical project completion requirements.
- Review and understand the project Commissioning Plans and Specifications and communicate the necessary requirements to the boarder project team.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Carry out field-based commissioning activities, including:
- Equipment inspections
- Start-up and test witnessing
- Functional Testing
- Integrated Systems Testing
- Have fluency/understanding with how to use calibrated testing equipment used in the commissioning process (flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, various meters, etc.
- Track, resolve and provide updates on issues noted in the commissioning agent’s Issues Log
- Assist the project team in developing project closeout documentation
- Develop, schedule, and execute seasonal/performance/deferred tests
- Ability to develop/review training programs for installed equipment and systems
- Provide regular updates to the project team, owners, consultants, and commissioning agents.
- Lead projects, when required, from construction phase to operation phase and monitor the performance of the building and systems & periodically check in with FM services.
- Develop, schedule, and execute seasonal/performance/deferred tests
**Is this the right role for you?**
- You have a construction related degree/diploma and three to five years of
mechanical and electrical construction experience or an equivalent combination of
technical training and experience.
- You have the ability to proactively identify and document any problems/conflicts and
effectively manage and resolve them.
- You enjoy working in a collaborative site team environment with the goal of
delivering successful projects.
- You enjoy problem-solving and thinking outside the box.
- Commissioning certification(s) from industry organizations (CEM, CBCP, BCxP,
BEAP, etc.) is an asset.
- Knowledge of TAB and Controls is an asset
- Familiarity with green building design practices and/or LEED and LEED AP BD+C is
plus.
- Understanding of energy monitoring and measurement & verification process is a plus.
