Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager, the General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks related to building restoration, repair and maintenance. He/she is familiar with and complies with the policies and procedures related to his/her duties, and maintains the equipment and accessories required to carry out his/her work in good condition. They must be able to adapt their work to unforeseen needs and circumstances, and in any emergency situation (e.g.: water damage, alarm system, anti-fugue, etc.), the general maintenance worker has an obligation to cooperate in restoring the situation.
**Responsibilities**:
- Carries out construction, repair and maintenance work on buildings;
- Carries out preventive maintenance on buildings, furniture and equipment, and keeps the register up to date;
- Maintains and repairs furniture, equipment and machinery;
- Maintains and repairs medical equipment (wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, etc.).
- Ensures work is carried out according to safety and accident prevention rules;
- Moves furniture and equipment;
- Keeps inventory of tools and equipment such as building materials, spare parts, etc;
- Stores merchandise received for work;
- Is responsible for communication and follow-up with customers;
- May be called upon to work "on-call" outside normal working hours;
- Performs any other related duties as requested by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma (DES)
- A Certificate of Competence (C.C.Q) or a Certificate of Vocational Qualification issued by Emploi-Québec (non-construction) (DEP) is an important asset
- Proven experience in building maintenance and repair
- Valid class 5 driver's license
- Ability to work as part of a team; autonomy, initiative and punctuality
- Fluency in written and spoken French; ability to communicate in English an asset.

- Ability to lift heavy weights on a regular basis
- Availability to respond to occasional calls for service outside normal working hours.
