**Position Summary**:
The Patient Blood Management Coordinator is accountable for the development, implementation and evaluation of blood management strategies and the educational needs of patients, physicians and staff. The Patient Blood Management Coordinator demonstrates ability as an expert and acts as a resource for practice issues related to patient blood management.

The Patient Blood Management Coordinator provides high quality, safe, effective and evidence-based care in partnership with patients and families, in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and GGH’s mission, vision, values and policies. The Coordinator optimizes the patient’s experience and care outcomes by:

- Being accountable for one’s decisions and professional practice;
- Establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family;
- Collaborating with other members of the patient’s care team;
- Coordinating, communicating and documenting patient care activities.

**Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities**:

- Certificate of registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS certification
- An understanding of Blood Management Program and ONTraC program is preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years related recent clinical experience with a demonstrated understanding of technical and clinical information related to patient blood management
- Demonstrated commitment to best practice, nursing standards and life-long learning
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
- Ability to anticipate and resolve problems in a collaborative and/or independent manner, as appropriate
- A commitment to continuing education and a willingness to remain current within a fast paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills to assess, plan, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate preoperative patient care plans
