**Ministry of Energy and Minerals**
The Petroleum and Natural Gas (PNG) Tenure Operations Branch plays a key role in the development of the petroleum and natural gas, geothermal and pore space resources in Alberta. The branch leases petroleum and natural gas rights (PNG), geothermal and pore space rights owned by the Province of Alberta to oil and gas companies so that they can explore for and develop these resources. The branch’s business is complex and highly confidential; decisions made have an immediate and direct impact on industry and the energy sector in Alberta.

An analyst may be assigned to work in one of several areas within the branch:
- **Wells, Offsets, Units & Trespass**: Analysts review well production and drilling activity and interpret geological analyses to ensure production aligns with legal rights, serving notices and levying penalties as appropriate. The analyst accepts proposals for and administers unitization agreements.
- **Agreement Administration**: Analysts process requests for agreement surrenders, collect overdue accounts, process encumbrances and transfers of various tenure agreements.
- **PNG Sales**: Analysts approve or deny requests for sale of undisposed Crown petroleum and natural gas and geothermal rights, ensuring the appropriate restrictions and conditions are advertised and made part of the agreement.
To be successful as a Land Analyst, you must have following skills:
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to efficiently work with Alberta’s energy industry, Land Agents, Legal Services, Alberta Energy Regulator, and Auditor General staff etc.
- Analytical skills to assess options and implications.
- Sound judgment and creative approaches to solve problems and make decisions.
- Technical skills to analyze and decipher information on maps, reports and geological notations.
- Proven high integrity to maintain confidential information and manage financial transactions.
- Strong knowledge of Excel to provide statistics, analyze data and create reports.

**Qualifications**:
- Required:_
- Minimum two-year diploma in either Land Administration / Petroleum Land Administration, Legal Administration, or Business Administration.
- Equivalency:_
- Directly related education or related experience may be considered based on one year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education.
- Assets:_
- Excellent verbal and written and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office 365 and SharePoint.
- Understanding of the business processes and systems required within PNG Tenure such as: Alberta Mineral Information System (AMI), Electronic Transfer System (ETS), and Corporate Accounting Reporting System, (CARS2).
- Knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations including but not limited to Mines and Minerals Act, Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act, Petroleum and Natural Gas Tenure Regulation, and the Mines and Minerals Administration Regulation.
- Knowledge of the Alberta Survey System and Geological Table of Formations.

This opportunity is to fill multiple full time permanent positions located in Edmonton. Full-time regular office hours are Monday to Friday 8:15AM- 4:30PM, 36.25 hours weekly.
