**ABOUT THE ROLE**

We are currently seeking an experienced Manager of Investor Relations to join our TransAlta team. As the Manager of IR, you are primarily accountable for ensuring that TransAlta is a market leader in communicating with the investment community, capital markets and other stakeholders. You'll be responsible for identifying the most efficient and effective ways to further the positioning of TransAlta in the market and industry through effectively communicating the company's value and opportunities. You will also be accountable for the development of the investor relations strategy and management of a high performing investor relations function.

This is a full-time salaried position based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**

Here is some of the great work you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Execute the investor relations strategy through consistent and effective communication plans and programming
- Develop Investor Relations strategic plan to deliver on key program objectives and goals across all investor channels to achieve fair valuation through targeting, communications and marketing strategies
- Manage and support the relationships between senior TransAlta leaders and key members of the investment community, including sell-side and buy-side analysts, investors, and shareholders
- Support the development of all written, verbal and visual material describing business initiatives and financial results for conference calls, scripts, MD&A, presentations, news releases, websites, social media and other public disclosure relevant to the investment community and other relating briefing documents
- Monitor, analyze and report on regular sell-side analyst reports and broader financial market and peer activities, support shareholder monitoring and analysis in collaboration with external advisors and resources
- Conduct research and analysis on financial results, valuations, stock, sector and peer performance and shareholder perceptions, and provide feedback to senior management
- Build and maintain relationships throughout the company to ensure a deep understanding of the business, industry, and market
- Support the CFO and CEO as a contact for the investment community and provide prospective and current investors with an accurate portrayal of the business and future potential
- Proactively identify key influencers to augment the company’s message and engage buy
- and sell-side analysts to support the investor relations strategy and improve the coverage of the company to current and prospective investors in the market as well as gain their insight on market perception
- Proactively engage with the portfolio managers of our institutional investors and other channels to keep them abreast of corporate strategic shifts and acquire their perspective on the company, industry, and market
- Manage the planning and execution of targeted and effective investor road shows, industry conferences, retail meetings, investor days and any other investor-focused events, marketing or outreach to the investment community along with preparation of related briefing documents, as well as summary and feedback reports
- Lead efforts to leverage TransAlta leadership in ESG and social capitalism with the investment community; and enhanced regular interaction with ESG-oriented investors; plan, organize and project manage ESG investor events and other ESG sessions in close collaboration with a range of internal and external partners
- Measure program performance through regular reporting on variety of metrics and peer analysis to assess the effectiveness of the program

**WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU**
- University Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of broad business experience in Energy and/or Finance sector
- CFA / CA / CMA / CGA professional designation preferred
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of capital markets, financial disclosure and accounting practices; awareness of ESG investor considerations, familiarity with ESG reporting and various ESG reporting standards
