**Program**: The Permanent Supported Housing sites at 7 Church St in Dartmouth and 5580 Cogswell St in Halifax are housing projects facilitated by Out of the Cold Community Association. These programs support individuals and couples who have been chronically unhoused and who experience high barriers to maintaining independent housing. Both programs offer single-room housing placements along with individualized case management and resident programming, in a low-barrier, harm-reduction focussed setting. This housing is a welcoming and intentional space that fosters a sense of home and community while still focusing on the unique, self-identified needs of the individuals we support
The 7 Church St. site in Dartmouth is equipped to support 26 residents who experience high barriers to maintaining their housing, with programming facilitated by professional support staff, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The 5580 Cogswell St. site in Halifax is equipped to support 38 residents who experience high barriers to maintaining their housing, with programming facilitated by professional support staff, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
**Population Served**:OTC Community Association provides low-barrier, people-centered support rooted in anti-oppressive & harm reduction practices. We support individuals (16+) and couples of all genders who are unhoused or precariously housed and who experience a variety of barriers to housing including poverty, criminalization, racism, homophobia, transphobia, food insecurity, inadequate access to physical & mental health supports, alcohol & substance use challenges and varying levels of ability and life skills.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Household Coordinator is responsible for**:
1**. Management of the daily functioning of the equipment and supplies related to safety, household needs and the food security program.**
2. **Responsible for the assessment and research of proposed expenditures of necessary household equipment and supplies, for approval by the Program Manager as well as the acquisition of supplies for all meals and food.**
**3. Responsible for the management of physical donations as well as donations related to the food security program.**
The Household Coordinator is responsible for providing high-quality, consistent services and in alignment with OTC’s policies and values. All Staff are responsible for supporting individuals in meeting their basic needs, maintaining their stay within a harm-reduction focussed environment and ensuring that Public Health recommendations for the COVID-19 pandemic are being followed.
**1. Management of the daily functioning of the equipment and supplies related to safety, household needs and the food security program.**
- Maintain and regulate the efficient operation of the facility in accordance with safety, fire and operational procedures. Responsible for performing weekly and monthly scheduled safety and fire audits.
- Responsible for planning, facilitation, documentation, and reporting of monthly fire drills.
- Responsible for daily care and regular monthly inspection of equipment and assessment of any needed repairs in collaboration with the Maintenance & Repair Lead. This includes washer & dryer towers in mods, washer & dryer in the kitchen, water fountains in the mods etc
- Liaise with appropriate supports (HRM, local contractors, utilities etc) to ensure that routine and major repairs are completed in a timely manner on washers & dryers, all kitchen equipment, water fountains, etc; Is responsible for the follow-up to ensure all maintenance of equipment and repairs are carried out.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager in securing quotes for work required to be done to the property in regard to safety, fire and physical operations.
- Responsible for ensuring all expenditures associated with safety, fire and operation are reasonable and pre-approved by the Program Manager
- Oversight of Snow Removal. Reports any concerns to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
- Responsible for ensuring the proper sorting of trash, organics and recycling and that regular pick up is arranged.
- Ensuring that the Bed Bug Protocols are being properly adhered to in collaboration with the Program Manager & staff.
- Other duties as required or assigned by the Program Manager and/or Executive Director.
**2. Responsible for the assessment and research of proposed expenditures of necessary household equipment and supplies, for approval by the Program Manager as well as the acquisition of supplies for all meals and food.**
