**Job Summary**

As part of the Spiritual Formation Team, the Young Families Pastor will provide leadership and cultivate spiritual growth for Peace Portal’s young families, specifically children from six months to grade four and their parents. As one of Peace Portal’s pastors, your voice will be involved in the shaping of how Peace Portal fulfills its mission, vision, and values with a specific focus on the development and alignment of Peace Portal’s Young Families Ministry with the rest of the church. In addition, your role will include the supervision of KidShine staff, the development, equipping and deployment of volunteer leadership teams, and the development of ministry content and curriculum for both children and their parents—encouraging and equipping them in their primary role of discipling their kids. Depending on your leadership abilities and capacities there are also opportunities for additional ministry engagement or oversight.

**Responsibilities**
- Directly supervise KidShine staff with the ability to develop department goals, follow-through on objectives, and facilitate meetings (2-3 direct reports)
- Oversee and execute the equipping and training of KidShine volunteer teams. Maintain current safety protocol training for all volunteers.
- Oversee KidShine budget planning and follow through
- Recruit, lead, equip, and coach volunteer teams for Sundays, family events, and summer camps
- Develop and tailor curriculum to the needs of the children of Peace Portal. Ensure the theological content of teaching and activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and in line with the Christian and Missionary Alliance “Statement of Faith”
- Provide oversight to the KidShine team in the planning of Sunday services, summer camps, volunteer training, and events
- Create spaces for parents to learn how to participate in the spiritual formation of their children
- Coordinate and facilitate Child Dedication classes
- Participate as a member of the pastoral team which includes: team meetings, Sunday service participation, all-church events/initiatives and general Pastoral leadership
- Opportunity to oversee other departments according to experience

**Skills + Experience + Qualifications**
- Completed formal education in theology, church ministry, or education.
- Previous pastoral experience in a mid-size to large congregation or equivalent experience in the field of education
- Skill and experience in children’s spiritual formation
- Experience leading and communicating with parents, volunteer leaders and teams of all ages
- Must be eligible to receive ‘Official Workers’ credentials and/or be ordained or pursuing ordination with the Alliance Canada
- Successful criminal record background check, and vulnerable sector check and reference
