The Manager, Air Service Development will report to the Director, Air Service Development and is accountable for developing and expanding flights for YEG in domestic, transborder and international markets. Key elements for this role include the ability to translate data into strategy along with developing strong relationship skills that set a foundation of trust and productivity with YEG’s partners.

The Manager will lead the development of business cases to retain and recruit air service and showcase excellence in implementation through strong relationships. This position is focused on passenger air service strategies which includes relationships with airlines, airports, businesses, consumers, and partner organizations such as economic development, chambers of commerce and others to develop More Flights to More Places. This role will act as an advocate for the Edmonton Metro Region through business development and innovation while driving strategic direction for expanded air service at YEG. Through relationship building, airline business development, and working collaboratively with cargo, operations and marketing teams, this position is engaged with internal and external stakeholders with a focus on air service development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development of business cases to retain and recruit domestic, transborder and international air service.
- Create and maintain professional relationships with key airline partners to aid in securing new routes and seat capacity growth at YEG.
- Be an engaged member of a dynamic team to bring creative and innovative ideas forward to grow air service, including working with marketing and sales team members to implement strategies on route sustainability and growth.
- Acquire and utilize passenger market intelligence including industry trends and airline changes to inform decision-making and build on air service development opportunities.
- Analyze airline and passenger data to identify air service opportunities and work to understand travel insights from communities that use Edmonton International Airport.
- Collaborate with and support other strategic business units in support of passengers and airline partners including airport operations, cargo, passenger experience, marketing and communications, among others to improve the YEG product.
- Identify and manage necessary budget requirements for the provision of air service and business development initiatives.
- Participate as a stakeholder on projects relating to air service development, such as tourism, marketing and communications, airline operations, etc.
- Facilitate opportunities with airline partners and other business/tourism partners to drive business development and act as a local knowledge resource for airline partners.
- Participate in a collaborative, positive and open environment with other team members including regular updates and communication.
- Travel to conferences and visit industry partners as required as this is an externally focused position.

**Special Requirements**:
THE INDIVIDUAL
Education
- Post secondary degree in Business or equivalent; combination of education and experience considered.

Experience
- Experience working in airline network planning; airline sales and business development; air service; airline operations; sales and marketing considered assets.

Competencies and Knowledge
- Familiarity with transportation and logistics related to Airport/Airline business.
- Proven ability to lead major projects for an organization including budget management and analysis.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and effectively interact cross-culturally with a second language being an asset.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication with an emphasis on strong stakeholder relations.
- Ability to research, analyze, and present data gathered from a wide variety of reference sources.
- Knowledge of relevant data analytics software and business statistical skills.
- Commercial experience with an airline considered an asset.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Experience working in collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals and passionate about building an innovative culture.
- Strong attention to detail resulting in excellent output.
- Advanced knowledge of MSOffice, including Word and PowerPoint, Excel.
- Ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and take initiative to solve problems as they arise.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Naturally curious with sharp critical thinking skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Fosters a sense of urgency, with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal record check is required.
