Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a technical hardware engineering environment.
- Experience with an Allegro viewer to view a board layout for surface-mount technology (SMT) part placement/rework.
- Experience profiling ball grid array (BGA) machine equipment (e.g., Ersa).

Preferred qualifications:

- 5 years of experience in fine pitch SMT and BGA rework along with IPC certification.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical processes/equipment and measurement.
- Experience with the manufacturing process and tooling for mechanical assemblies and printed circuit boards.
- Experience developing operating procedures and quality inspection processes.
- Experience in fine pitch SMT rework IC’s, PQFN packages, BGA reballing experience, small passive components (01005), and general lab support duties.
- Ability to work with read board layouts and schematics.

**About the job**:
The Augmented Reality (AR) Developer team’s core responsibilities are to design and deliver electrical and mechanical hardware for advanced AR products.

The Lab Manager supporting AR Developers will work closely with Product Managers, User Experience, Electrical Developers, and Product Designers in developing cross-functional prototypes for current and next-generation AR products. You will oversee day-to-day operations in the AR Lab with a focus on current and future generation hardware rework and prototypes. You will work on functional near factor devices, display integration/development technologies, and sensor integration.

In the Lab, you will provide support in all aspects of rework, including management of technicians’ and rework, which will also include assembly, disassembly, and modification of devices.

As Labs Manager, you will uphold our commitment to deliver the standard of quality and services by managing key performance indicators, impact assessments, and productivity goals. Working closely with the electrical and mechanical developer teams, you will also support equipment purchases, inventory tracking, and supplier management.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor work ticket flow, support risk assessments of incoming equipment, and support Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews.
- Manage lab technicians and process documents, maintain Labs Site, manage Lab budget (including PO placement and tracking), implement training requirements, and facility requests.
- Perform sample rework (mechanical assembly/disassembly) and component SMT soldering.
- Manage equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory.
- Coordinate with Health and Safety on Lab space and promote Google's Environment Health and Safety policies.
