**About Us**

Acrylic Robotics is a Montreal-based robotics startup building technology to make fine art accessible to all. The company’s robotics and AI-based tools capture artists’ brushstrokes and replay them with robotic arms using real paint on canvas, allowing visual artists to release limited-edition, NFT-authenticated collections of painted art at affordable prices. Acrylic has won Centech's top Tech Innovation prize and has been named one of Canada's “Top 10 Ventures to Watch” by Next’s GRIT Magazine.

**Who are we looking for?**
We are looking to onboard a full-time robotics intern eager to play a key role in shaping what tech at Acrylic looks like. We want to find someone as invested in Acrylic as we are who is eager to learn and grow alongside the company. This is a paid 4-8 month internship with the potential for a continued position if the fit is right. You will be working directly alongside our founder and joining a young, fun, multidisciplinary team of artists, engineers and art-lovers. Your work will be primarily in-person, with the possibility for remote work depending on the project and whether it requires contact with our physical prototypes or not.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

As a robotics intern at Acrylic, you will play a pivotal role in designing, testing, and implementing our robotic systems. You will be working hands-on with our robotic arm to create robotic paintings and optimize our output. In addition, you will work closely with our team to integrate new systems. In broad strokes, this could look like this:

- Testing and optimizing our robotic arm output to make increasingly impressive paintings
- Development and integration of new and existing robotic mechanisms
- Creation of our robotic arm artworks including for pilot projects and exhibitions
- Working with project and product managers to establish product limitations, timelines, and milestones

**Knowledge and Skills — Technical**
Baseline:

- Strong proficiency in Python
- Software development experience
- Experience in programming and coding automated tests
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent

Nice-to-haves:

- Familiarity with robotics software frameworks (ROS, G-code, other control middleware)
- Hands-on experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)
- Experience with NumPy arrays
- Experience with control systems
- Familiarity with robotics software frameworks (ROS, G-code, other control middleware)
- Experience with robotic arms and automating processes
- A Creative thinker with a passion for user experience
- Experience with arduino or raspberry pi
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Hands-on experience with painting or fine art

- **Fonctions et responsabilités**
En tant que stagiaire en robotique chez Acrylic, vous jouerez un rôle essentiel dans la conception, l’essai et la mise en œuvre de nos systèmes robotiques. Vous travaillerez de façon pratique avec notre bras robotique pour créer des peintures robotiques et optimiser notre production. En outre, vous travaillerez en étroite collaboration avec notre équipe pour intégrer de nouveaux systèmes. Dans les grandes lignes, cela pourrait ressembler à ceci:

- Tester et optimiser la production de notre bras robotique pour réaliser des peintures de plus en plus impressionnantes.
- Développement et intégration de mécanismes robotiques nouveaux et existants.
- Création d’œuvres d’art avec notre bras robotisé, notamment pour des projets pilotes et des expositions.
- Travailler avec les chefs de projet et de produit pour établir les limites, les délais et les étapes du produit.
