As a member of the Aquatics leadership team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing effective supervision and risk management to the delivery of all aquatics programs and services.
As the Aquatic Supervisor, you will provide effective supervision and leadership of all aquatics programs and services for your centre. You will lead the supervision and direction of your aquatics team; enhance our culture of positivity and accountability, and develop programming while providing optimal customer service to all aquatics members. You will monitor and respond to programming, ensuring the Aquatics staff team are all working on strategies to improve the members experience to enhance membership retention and growth, program quality and member satisfaction. You will join a supportive team of aquatics professionals that are highly focused on personal growth and development.

**Note: C**andidates should have flexible schedules, but will generally be on a Tuesday through Saturday work week**

**Position Responsibilities**
- Become an expert for all emergency procedures, pool and aquatic programming standards and best practices; respond to situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures; completes related reports or recommendations as required
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, supervise and manage all full-time and part-time staff and volunteers within program areas
- Coordinate and supervise the operations of all programs and services for members at the quality and service levels
- Monitor and respond to program quality, member experience and program trends ensuring the highest level of service delivery in programs and in programs and services
- Develop and maintain positive friendly and respectful relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Help participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA
- Receive regular feedback by on deck/in-water coaching and best-practice audits to improve individual and team performance
- Ensure YMCA Aquatics SAM (Serving All Members) standards are consistently met or exceeded and supports the Head Guard in responding to service issues with timely solutions
- Responsible for aquatics facilities and equipment checks (emergency, safety, program), on a regular basis ensuring standards are met and resolving issues
- Ensure a culture of cleanliness, accountability, and safety of the aquatics area. Records completed tasks to ensure smooth communication for rotations
- Ensure team is collecting accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the Alberta health code such as daily water tests, pool attendance tracking, maintenance sheets, class attendance & participant progress, and more as required
- Supports the department, branch and association in implementing and achieving goals
**What You’ll Need for This Job**
- Valid YMCA Swim Instructor (YSI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), OR Lifesaving Swim Instructor (LSI).
- Currently Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification & National Lifeguard Certification
- Certifications that are considered assets but not requirements: Oxygen Administration/Therapy, Lifesaving Coach, Swim Abilities Instructor, Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor, Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor, Lifesaving Society Trainer, Lifesaving Society Aquatic Supervisor Training
- Related leadership experience
- Ability to make others feel like the YMCA is a place they belong
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
