Job Overview
In partnership with the Sr. Wealth Advisor, the Associate Advisor is responsible for providing sound investment advice that increases Wealth related assets and revenue while being actively involved in business development initiatives that increase the visibility of FirstOntario Wealth across all branches and members.
Role
In the role, you will...
- Collaboratively assist the Sr. Wealth Advisor manage a large book of business while building your own smaller book of business.
- Be an exceptional and natural relationship builder with new and existing members by conducting discovery interviews, identifying their goals, developing appropriate plans and making recommendations (under the guidance/direction of the Sr. Wealth Advisor)?
- Truly believe in FirstOntario Wealth products and services and be able to communicate to members and prospective members how we can improve their financial lives
- Proactively identify areas of opportunity relating to Mutual Funds products to help surpass sales targets and provide new and existing members with the best product
- Effortlessly build and maintain close working relationships with internal business partners across the organization to support the achievement of organizational objectives and strategic goals
- Work with new and existing members to help consolidate wealth related assets from other financial institutions to FirstOntario, while implementing an effective plan to keep existing investment business on the books
- Stay well connected with members through a variety of communication channels to better service our members and uncover their needs
- Accurately maintain current member files and conduct reporting as needed
- Diligently complete documentation related to member needs and requests, including the Book of Record system, planning software, contact management system (CRM) and other applicable programs
- Seek to support the member's financial portfolio by referring to the appropriate internal partners when required
- Be available to meet with members in their branches or through video conference
- Actively participate in special business and community events to raise visibility and present FirstOntario as a partner and financial institution of choice
- Consider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the safety of self and others
- Perform other duties as required
**Required Skills**:
Within your skills and qualifications, you will...
- Have a sound business acumen which you built from the ground up with a post-secondary diploma or degree in business, economics or a finance related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Hold a valid Mutual Funds Licence or Securities Licence, which must be kept in good standing
- Have completed or working towards your Responsible Investment Specialist (RIS) certification
- Be proud of your PFP/CFP or be willing to pursue one of these designations
- Maintain accurate transaction records and detailed notes of member interactions and meetings
- Be familiar with applicable software including but not limited to eAdvisor MFDA and Dataphile Web MFDA
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness for sales and business development
- Keep current on financial trends and changes in the investment industry and be well versed in mutual funds solutions
- Become experienced at taking initiative, assessing requirements and developing plans to help our members reach their financial goals
- Appreciate the need to work independently while also supporting the Sr. Wealth advisor and organizational objectives
- Provide superior member experiences with proactive, intentional and thoughtful support and service
