**What do you offer?**

The Language Assessor is responsible for conducting language assessments in English using a variety of prescribed tools to determine the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of individuals, primarily eligible newcomers and immigrants.

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Conducting language assessments in English using a variety of prescribed tools to determine the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of newcomers and immigrants.
- Making neutral, unbiased referral to language classes suiting the client based on the results of their assessment.
- Completing necessary administrative work and data entry to make referrals and track activity.
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate information about available language programs in the community.

**Education**
- Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field

**Language**
- Fluent in English, oral and written

**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Possession of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) or Teaching French as a Second Language (TFSL) certificate
- Experience in teaching English as a second language and/or assessing English language benchmarks
- Experience working with newcomers or immigrants, or working in a multicultural environment
- Knowledge of immigrant language services and programs offered for newcomers to Canada
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, online research, and data entry
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills

**Additional Requirements**:

- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required.
- Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
