We’re looking for a **Technical Support Specialist **to join the Technology team.

**Overview**
**IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Only applicants who answer all the preliminary Applicant Qualification questions will be considered for the Technical Support Specialist position.**
Reporting to the Senior Infrastructure Consultant in Vancouver, the highly skilled Technical Support Specialist will possess extensive experience in RedHat Linux, MariaDB, container technologies and data backup. This role involves providing top-notch technical support to our clients, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring seamless operation of our systems. The position will be located in our Vancouver office.
**Key Accountabilities**:
The Technical Support Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for RedHat Linux and container environments.
- Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of RedHat Linux servers.
- Develop and maintain data retention policies to ensure compliance with data archiving requirements.
- Improve storage management and data backup/ recovery processes.
- Perform regular audits and reviews of backup systems and storage devices to ensure alignment with best practices and organizational needs.
- Monitor Scheduled Linux Process for Trading System Integration Platform, performing high level debugging and quick fixes before escalating to the development team. Tasks include clearing Log files when server disk is full, identifying resource-intensive processes consuming, and restarting databases as needed.
- Create tickets for system changes and maintain hardware inventory in CMDB, following ITIL standards..
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to resolve technical problems.
- Maintain and update technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in RedHat Linux and container technologies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
** Must be able to commute to 1095 West Pender St., Vancouver reliably, Monday to Friday.**
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong self-learning and self-motivated troubleshooting skills, with a solid understanding of following procedures to escalate issues to different support levels.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical support, system administration, or a similar role.
- Strong expertise in RedHat Linux administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with microservices architecture and hands-on expertise in implementing CI/CD tools and workflows within Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with enterprise storage solutions such as SAN, NAS, Veeam and cloud storage platforms.
- Server Management Experience: Proven experience in managing servers, including handling driver updates, firmware updates, and ensuring system reliability and performance.
- Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash: Hands-on experience with the ELK stack, including the maintenance and tuning of Elasticsearch indexers for optimal performance and scalability.
- Strong experience with MariaDB is required. Additional knowledge of MariaDB ColumnStore and database replication is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of data retention policies and data archiving best practices.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools to streamline backup processes is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
