Production Operator 1, Printing Services/ancillary

The **Production Operator is a full-time continuing** position responsible for supporting the printing needs of the university community. This involves producing course packs, exams, marketing media and daily printing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Evaluates all duplicating requests and sets a plan of action for completion.
- Prepares proofs for customer approval.
- Performs all duplication requests (exams, brochures, posters, handouts, etc).
- Follows instructions on job requisitions to ensure accurate work.
- Performs all bindery work (booklet making, cutting, scoring, perforating, stitching, etc).
- Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance, calling for service when required, and calibrating equipment to ensure accuracy in colour matching.
- Ensures all work is completed in a timely manner, meeting all scheduled deadlines.
- Keeps area clean and orderly at all times.
- Receives all Print Services materials.
- Prepares completed orders for delivery, calls couriers or notifies client that work is ready for pickup.
- Prepares and processes requisitions for pricing.
- Fills out daily logs reporting production, usage, and statistical data.
- Greet visitors, answers any general inquires.
- Maintains acceptable levels of inventory (counting monthly), notifying Supervisor when inventory levels are low.
- Assists in copier relocations.
- Assists with other work performed by the Ancillary Services unit.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a high school diploma program.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Production equipment.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Print Services environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have experience with High speed copiers, both b/w and colour production.
- Must have experience with wide format printers.
- Must have experience with bindery equipment: folder, perforator, creaser, cutter, numbering, stitcher and coiling devices.
- Must have experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Photoshop.
- Must be able to work cooperatively as part of a team environment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and to make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to work with constant interruptions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Abie to multi-task, prioritize and cope with fluctuations in workload and a high-pressure environment.

**An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.**

**Condition(s) of Employment**:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to to work 35 hours a week Monday - Friday.
- Must be willing to work overtime during peak periods.

**The salary range for this position will be from $41,715.18 to $57,530.20 annually.**
