**Job Summary**:
**Accountability**:

**Qualifications**:

- A passion to end homelessness
- Completion of Child & Youth Care Program with diploma, degree or equivalent
- Experience effectively working with people experiencing homelessness

**Skills Required**:

- High standard of integrity, judgement and confidentiality
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with culturally diverse youth participants, staff and community partners. Including all communities.
- Demonstrated trauma informed practice knowledge of conflict resolution, advocacy skills, understanding of harm reduction and person centred approach
- A commitment to our organizations health and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and documentation skills. Highly organized, thorough and detail oriented
- Strong English language communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Must be willing to work in a job which requires patience and flexibility
- Ability to do repetitive tasks and lift 50lbs
- Professional demeanor with an ability to work with staff at all levels
- A strong work ethic, takes initiative and an ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Have a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for participants and make professional referrals.
- Experience working in a crisis environment supporting youth.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check is required

**Assets**:

- Training in nonviolent crisis intervention, harm reduction model, first aid/CPR certification, first aid mental health or relevant equivalents is an asset and required during duration of employment
- Knowledge of HIFIS, SPDAT, ASSIST and the Housing First Program an asset
- A Safe Food Handlers Certificate is an asset and required during duration of employment
- Second language skills are an asset
- Social Service Worker Program an asset
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license with a satisfactory driver's abstract and willing to obtain necessary insurance
- Lived experience is an asset

**Roles Hiring For**:
1 full time overnight youth shelter worker. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

**Hours of Work**:
The roles are permanent and need flexibility to be able to work weekdays, weekends, alternating weekends and holidays as needed. Set schedules unique to each role with 28-40 hours per week (68 hours per pay period) depending on the role. Unionized position $19.04/hr.
