**Position Description**:
The City of Waterloo has multiple Seasonal Labourer (Winter Control) positions available in the Transportation Services division commencing in October for up to an eight (8) month term.

**Accountabilities**:

- Participate in general Transportation Services operations including, but not limited to, leaf collection, cold/hot asphalt patching, and landscaping as required
- Operate an articulated loader during winter control operations
- Maintain proper written or electronic records of activities as required by Ontario Regulations and internal policies and / or procedures
- Ensure safe and efficient operation, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles
- Perform daily checks on vehicles and equipment, including documentation of any issues and daily log documentation
- Communicate and co-operate effectively with others, respecting the values of the corporation, both internally and externally
- Other duties as assigned

**Job Requirements**:

- Minimum of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field involving manual physical labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
- Valid MTO ‘DZ’ class driver’s license in good standing with driver’s abstract acceptable to the City is required to perform the job**:

- Must have a working knowledge with winter control operations including but not limited to salting, loading snow, snow plowing
- Snow Fighter training is an asset; must be willing to attend
- Previous experience working with asphalt, leaf collection, landscape construction and winter control operations is preferred
- Experience in road construction environment is preferred
- Truck and articulated loader experience is preferred
- Capable of performing the physical demands of the position, including lifting and kneeling on a regular basis
- Willing and able to work in an outdoor environment and actively participate in daily activities in various weather conditions
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
- Motivated, hardworking and able to work with mínimal supervision
- Available and willing to work day, afternoon, evening, weekend and holiday shifts where required
- Satisfactory Police Record and Judicial Matters Check is a condition of hire

**Drivers Abstract**: Please note, new City drivers must meet the following criteria in order to have a successful driver’s abstract check in accordance with the City’s Driver Accountability Procedure: a maximum of 3 demerit points; a maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions.
