**Position Description**:
The City of Waterloo has multiple Seasonal Labourer positions available in the Parks, Forestry and Cemetery Services division commencing in November for up to a four (4) month term. Shift work may be required based upon operational requirements, including evenings, weekends, nights and holidays.

**Accountabilities**:

- Ensure safe and efficient operation, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles
- Operate snow removal equipment and other vehicles safely
- Perform daily checks on vehicles and equipment, including documentation of any issues and daily log documentation
- Maintain proper written records of activities as required
- Communicate and co-operate effectively with others, respecting the values of the corporation, both internally and externally
- Will be required to perform other duties as assigned

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Minimum of Grade 12 Education or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field involving manual physical labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
- Valid MTO ‘DZ’ class driver’s license in good standing with driver’s abstract acceptable to the City is required to perform the job
- Previous experience in winter operations snow plowing, sanding and hand shoveling is preferred
- Landscape experience including grass cutting, tree and shrub maintenance, sodding is an asset
- Equipment experience including: backhoe, tractor mower, pickup truck, dump truck is an asset
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Capable of performing the physical demands of the position, including lifting and kneeling on a regular basis
- Willing and able to work in an outdoor environment and actively participate in daily activities in various weather conditions
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
- Motivated, hardworking and able to work with mínimal supervision
- Available and willing to work day, evening and weekend shifts where required
- Satisfactory Police Record and Judicial Matters Check and Drivers Abstract Check is a condition of hire

**Drivers Abstract**: Please note, new City drivers must meet the following criteria in order to have a successful driver’s abstract check in accordance with the City’s Driver Accountability Procedure: a maximum of 3 demerit points; a maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions.
