Have you ever wanted to learn about growing flowers in Ontario. This could be a perfect opportunity to do so. We are a flower farm growing peonies just outside of Chatham, in Mitchell’s Bay, on the shores of Lake St. Clair.

We are in need of 12 people to process the peony flowers which involves:

- field work : pruning the plant of buds, harvesting the peony stems)
- indoor work: prepping the stems by removing leaves, cutting to length, bundling flowers into bundles, and storing them in buckets).

The work will also include getting plants ready for shipment to Toronto, dealing with local florists, and wholesalers.

During the process, you’ll learn about the business of flower farming, work with some terrific owners, and enjoy your breaks and lunch with a view on the lake.

What we need:

- Good level of fitness - the work involves a lot of walking, bending and lifting (bundles of flowers, etc.)
- Dependability - a commitment to work expected schedule is needed
- Good attitude - you’ll be working with about 10 - 12 people during the peak times and a good attitude goes a long way

This is seasonal work. NOTE - Start date is estimated and will depend on when flowers are ready.
- 6 positions will be required for 4-5 weeks starting around May 13, and
- 6 additional positions will be required for 3 weeks starting around May 27 - depending on the length of the harvest.

Contract length: 2 - 4 weeks

**Salary**: $16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 45 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
