There is an opening for the above position within the Water Division of the Infrastructure Services Department available immediately. Reporting to the Supervisor of Water Meter, the following requirements apply:
**What you will be doing**:
- Performs meter reading functions to established schedules.
- Ensures readings are done accurately and forwards to appropriate personnel.
- Investigates discrepancies and/or complaints by troubleshooting meter related issues, including meter accuracy verifications as required or as requested.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to all residential, commercial and industrial billed water meters.
- Sealing/resealing of residential, commercial and industrial billed water meters.
- Inputs, maintains and updates water meter database and records as required
- Deliver notice to resident/owner related to water metering as required.
- Inspects all water service installations as per City standards
- Operates/locates hydrants and curb stops.
- Inspects Backflow Preventers and enforces cross connection by-law, City standards and B64 regulations.
- Unblocking water services where low pressure exists.
- Completes and documents all service work performed.
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent
- Requires 2-3 years of experience working with water meters.
- Valid DZ License or must be willing to obtain
- Water Distribution Operator in Training (OIT) Certificate or must be willing to obtain
- Ability to operate small maintenance tools and hand tools
- Meets requirements of Physical Demands Analysis for position
- Good oral communication skills to liaise with a variety of people including coworkers, clients and suppliers.
- Familiarity with computers and ability to respond to and complete work orders electronically.
- Analytical, problem-solving, planning and scheduling skills required to effectively complete the job from start to finish.
- Class I Water Distribution and Supply Certification and Backflow and Cross-Connection Certification is considered an asset

Valid DZ driver's license
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour
**Your compensation**:
This unionized position (Outside Workers) current hourly rate of pay is $25.76 per hour. (Probation Rate may apply). Comprehensive Benefits Package including OMERS Pension applies.
