**Job Summary**
As a part of our Grooming team, you are responsible for the operation of Snow Grooming equipment, including free grooming and winch grooming, in a safe and responsible manner. A Grooming Operator’s top priority is safe and efficient operations, reporting to your Team Leads or Supervisor when needed. You are a front-line staff member, problem solving and providing excellent customer service to create a Fantastic Family Fun experience.
**Job Specifications**
- Wage: / hour based on experience
- Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time - Working between 8-10 hours/day. Weekends and Holidays
**Responsibilities**:
- Operate Snow Grooming equipment, including free grooming and winch grooming, in a safe and responsible manner.
- Practice safe work procedures at all times.
- Ensure a high-quality grooming product.
- Adhere to all company operating and maintenance procedures.
- Be of sound mind for the entirety of your shift.
- Regular work weeks can be expected to up to four, 10-hour night shifts per week.
- Complete daily vehicle log sheets and checklists
- Perform prestart up inspections as per pre-established checklists.
- Perform shutdown and post operational procedures including necessary documentation regarding machine maintenance.
- Ensure all machinery is safely and securely stored at the end of each shift.
- Keep buildings and lift terminals clear of hazards and excess snow.
- Operate during designated hours set by the Grooming Supervisor and Outside Operations Team, as to not interfere with resort operational hours.
- Report all ski run hazards, both current and potential, to the patrol department by the designated time each operational morning.
- Practice proper radio protocol as per company policy.
- Assist the mechanic with maintenance on grooming equipment, where needed.
- Perform all duties assigned.
- Maintain a professional and respectable appearance
- Other duties as assigned
**Job Requirements**
- Experience necessary, we also train all Groomers (including returnees)
- Previous heavy equipment operating experience is required.
- Previous Prinoth, Bombardier grooming experience is preferred.
- Previous mountain operations experience is an asset.
- Must be able to make quick decisions/use considerable judgement regarding safety as well as multitask and anticipate issues
- Must be physically capable of shoveling snow, grooming load/unload ramps and assisting with lift maintenance; may lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able stand outside in a mountain environment for long periods of time
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Must be able to handle high guest volumes in a professional manner
- Must be willing to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of assigned area, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends
- Strong customer service and clear communication skills
- Must be adaptable, have problem solving skills, and be a team player across all departments
- Family Oriented Resort so working with large groups, families of all ages is required
- Stress Management, Patient, and have great Time Management Skills
- Cross Department Support and Snow Removal is required from all positions at SMR
