**About Us**:
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) was established in 1988 with a mandate to promote and stimulate economic development initiatives in Northern Ontario by providing financial assistance to projects that stabilize, diversify and foster economic growth in the region.

The NOHFC is an operational service agency established under the enabling legislation of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Act. The NOHFC has an appointed Board of Directors, chaired by the Minister of Northern Development. The NOHFC provides economic development funding toward approved projects in the territorial districts of Northern Ontario, namely Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Rainy River, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timiskaming.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: Reporting to the Executive Director, you will:

- Manage the review, assessment and approval of funding for economic development projects.
- Provide technical expertise to achieve program deliverables and ensure legislative responsibilities are met.
- Provide advice to senior management on program decisions and risks.
- Establish and lead a regional information network and develop communication strategies.
- Negotiate transfer payment funding and loan agreements to improve the region.
- Provide advisory services to public and private sector partners.
- Develop and recommend new/revised economic development programs and policies.
- Establish and evaluate assessment/performance metrics for processes and programs.
- Prepare business plans, status reports, statistical analyses, briefing notes, correspondence and presentations for senior executives and the Board of Directors.
- Manage stakeholder consultation processes.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:

- This position requires time-to-time travels within Northern Ontario. The applicant must have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.

**Leadership and Management Skills**:

- You have demonstrated experience in providing guidance to a team by communicating values, strategies, goals, and objectives.
- You have experience in planning, leading, and managing a corporate operation.
- You possess strong human resources management skills to effectively lead and manage a program service team.
- You have knowledge of strategic and operational planning processes, policy analysis, issues management, and quality service guidelines.
- You have demonstrated the** leadership behaviors, attributes and mindsets** to lead the OPS into the future.

**Technical Knowledge and Skills**:

- You have an understanding of socio-economic conditions in Northern Ontario and the complexity of the Northern Ontario economy.
- You are familiar with the guidelines, policies, and eligibility criteria of various funding associations to ensure financial accountability.
- You are familiar with regional economic and political issues to be sensitive to the needs and local issues of communities and to actively advance key economic development initiatives.
- You have comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of financial administration, accounting, controllership, and commercial lending.
- You possess knowledge of economic theory and principles, business/economic analysis, and economic development strategy, as well as knowledge of the program-specific economic/business climate conditions and inherent complexity of the regional economy

**Analytical and Program Management Skills**:

- You have knowledge of project management principles and methodologies to oversee mandates and guide strategy delivery.
- You can develop evidence-based criteria and benchmarks to evaluate program and service delivery practices and measure achievement of deliverables.
