**POSITION TITLE**: Supervisor, Bakery Counter

**LOCATION**:Village Grocer (Markham, Ontario)

**TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR**: Bakery Production Manager

**Scope**
Working cooperatively with the Bakery Production Manager, and reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, the Bakery Counter Manager is responsible for creating inspired customer experiences through creative merchandising and exciting promotional “events” in our in-store bakery. Additional responsibilities include finding and training staff with “the right stuff”, staff scheduling, inventory management, pricing, sanitation & food safety compliance as well as quality control.

**Role Requirements**
**- **Must be able to work 40-44 hours per week
- Must be flexible and available to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends when required (extended hours, holidays and midnight shifts on occasion)
- Maintains and expects from staff a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance
- Adheres to company dress code (hairnet/whites/apron)
- Maintains a clean and safe workspace environment
- Can endure medium/high levels of physical exertion (standing, climbing stairs, bending, lifting)
- Equipment operation knowledge & skills (i.e. retail weigh scales, blow torch, cake-writing)
- Successfully & regularly communicates with staff, co-workers and customers
- Observes company code of conduct, policies and store rules
- Preform other duties and assignments as directed

**Key Responsibilities**
**- **Merchandising - Conceives and executes a retail merchandising strategy that evolves around our products, events, seasons, specials, promotions, etc.
- Staffing - hiring, training, scheduling, job assignments & monitoring
- Product Assortment - Serves as the eyes and ears to our bakery production manager on ideas, trends and opportunities
- Inventory - Works with the bakery production manager to ensure product inventories are anticipated, rotated and replenished consistently
- Workplace - Maintains an organized, clean and safe working environment. Oversees scheduled cleaning responsibilities of workstation and general bakery department
- Adhere to all provincial health and civil code regulations
- Participation in bi-weekly management committee meetings

**Working Conditions**
- Inside, fridge/freezer work on occasion

**Success Factors**
- 3-5 years’ experience managing a service counter

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44 per week
