**Working for Dr. Lori West and the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program**

Dr. Lori West's research involves the development of a comprehensive research focus encompassing specific projects related to solid organ transplantation. These projects range from molecular level gene therapy and cell biology investigations in murine transplant models through to clinical projects that include patient and population outcomes, quality-of-life studies and clinical drug trials. Bi-directional translational research is a crucial component in this regard, bridging the basic laboratory and the clinic. Encompassed within this research focus are key collaborations with the Women and Children's Health Research Institute, the Alberta Transplant Institute, the Alberta Diabetes Institute, the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute/Cardiovascular Translational Research Group, the National Institute for Nanotechnology, the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology and other investigators.

The Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP) drives advances in Canadian donation and transplantation research, mobilizing knowledge to support fulfilment requests and working to transform from treatment to lasting and sustainable cures.

**Position Summary**

Using their good working knowledge of the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Department of Pediatrics policies and procedures the Coordinator utilizes confidentiality and a professional manner when dealing with sensitive information. The Coordinator is resourceful, demonstrating composure and maturity and professionalism with demonstrated experience in dealing with strict deadlines, competing priorities and multi-task with efficiency and competence.

**Duties**
- Assist in the preparation of letters, correspondence and annual and other reports, including collecting relevant information throughout the year that will be included.
- Assist with Travel Arrangements, travel expense claims, hosting claims and other reimbursements through the Department of Pediatrics, Alberta Medical Association, Professional Expense and/or individually held subaccounts or grants.
- Maintain a comprehensive daily, weekly and long-range electronic calendar for administrative, research, teaching and travel commitments schedules, coordinating and confirming meetings, teaching commitments, entering call rotation schedules and other appointments.
- Book meeting rooms and circulates meeting materials, ensuring proper AV is available and catering is arranged.
- Collaborate with DoP Finance Unit and SMS for the timely payment of invoices.
- Review monthly statements of research accounts for outstanding invoices and credits and coordination of student stipends and staff salary contracts
- Coordinating purchasing including preparing purchase orders.
- Assist with tracking INSIS revenues and expenditures, subsite contracts and payments, reconciling of accounts and maintaining hard copy and electronic files.
- Assist with preparing budgets and financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly, semiannual and ad-hoc reports to funders.
- Assist in preparation of annual dues payments for professional societies, and licensing agencies.
- Support the area with administrative functions including collecting, opening, sorting and filing incoming and outgoing correspondence, mail, faxes and photocopying.
- Screen, direct, and process electronic and in-person queries to the appropriate person or area.
- Responsible for updating desk manuals and office protocols specific to the role (SOPs).
