**Position Description**

The University of Calgary, **Faculty of Nursing **is seeking **Sessional Nursing Instructors** to teach undergraduate level clinical courses for the Fall Semester 2023 and Winter Semester 2024 as follows:
**FALL SEMESTER (September 1 - December 31, 2023)**

TERM 3 -** NURS 289** (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices I): Community Health

TERM 5 -** NURS 489** (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices III): Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Pediatrics

TERM 7 - **NURS 589** (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices V): Older Adult (med/surg), Oncology, and Perinatal

**WINTER SEMESTER (January 1 - April 30, 2024)**

TERM 3 - **NURS 289** (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices I): Community Health

TERM 4 - **NURS 389** (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices II): Long Term Care

TERM 6 - **NURS 499 **(Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices IV): Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Pediatrics

We are seeking applicants with nursing practice in the acute care, chronic care, early childhood development, long-term care, pediatric, mental health, perinatal, oncology, and community environments, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Scheduling varies and may include a combination of days and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. The successful applicants are required to be available during that entire period(s).

**Teaching Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate low to high-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre
- Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in acute care, chronic care, long-term care or community
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance
- Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus
- Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice

**Qualifications**:
**Applied Experience**:

- Current practice experience related to semester focus
- Broad experience across a variety of areas
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students

**Enhanced Abilities**:

- Application of adult teaching/learning principles
- Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Evaluation and promotions of student problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
- Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
