Dual Rate Security Guard/ Supervisor

Edmonton International Airport, Canada Century Mile Racetrack and Casino Full time

This role will work most shifts as a security guard. However if the security supervisor is injured, sick or on vacation they will step up and become the security supervisor.

**Most be able to work 12 hour shifts rotating between 8am-8pm and 8pm-8am.**

Guard: To protect the assets of the casino, as directed. To protect casino customers and staff members and respond promptly to requests for security assistance. To consistently and diplomatically maintain good public relations with casino customers and staff members. To perform duties in compliance with local, provincial, and federal laws. To comply with, maintain and inform customers and staff members of safety and security policies and procedures.

Supervisor: To provide guidance and leadership under the direction of the security manager to security officers on their shift ensuring the security of casino assets, the casino facilities, employees, volunteer workers and guests. Security supervisors will ensure that all members of the security team consistently, diplomatically, and professionally maintain good relations with patrons, as well as fellow staff and see to that all duties are successfully accomplished in accordance with Alberta Gaming and Liquor commissions terms and conditions, operating guidelines, and century casino policy and procedures. Security supervisors will act in compliance with local, provincial, and federal laws and also act in compliance with Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission laws and regulations.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**

In absence of supervisor will act as a supervisor of a team of Security Guards during the shift. Provides guidance, mentoring and coaching to team members.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Demonstrated experience providing and enforcing security services. Demonstrated effective and diplomatic customer service and communication skills, which includes contacts with employees, customers and experience handling difficult customer relations. Demonstrates experience in crowd control.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Graduation from High School or equivalent. Two (2) or more years of recent and related experience in security enforcement is desirable. Law enforcement courses/experience or security background are an asset.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Must be proficient, diplomatic, effective and have demonstrated both oral and written communication skills using English.

**REASONING ABILITY**

Takes actions and makes recommendations beyond the scope of essential duties, which may positively or negatively impact other departments.

The Security employee should be capable of successfully completing an in house ‘Modified Pressure Points Control Tactics (PPCT) Course’. This may include vigorous and or strenuous training, involving body contact, nerve pressure points and body takedowns.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

Essential duties involve working with large numbers of people in an indoor and outdoor environment. Extreme temperature changes and adverse weather conditions including: wind, rain, snow, cold, heat, and frequently loud or high noise levels.
