**About the employer**

The Douglas Research Centre is a research institution specializing in mental health and neuroscience. Located at 6875 LaSalle Blvd., in Verdun, the Douglas is affiliated with both the Montreal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre (hereafter named, “CIUSSS”) and McGill University. The Douglas is host to approximately 70 researchers, 250 students, and 300 employees who work together to advance our understanding of issues in mental health using social, clinical, and biological research.

**Description of position**

The Operations Manager oversees and coordinates the administrative, human resources, and legal matters of the Douglas Research Centre. Reporting to the Administrative Director, the manager will be responsible for supporting the efficient daily operations of the centre, including developing and implementing policies and procedures as well as spearheading special projects. A collaborative leader, the manager will support the administrative team to evaluate and lead initiatives to continuously improve administrative efficiencies through leveraging technology. A tactful communicator, the manager will work with researchers and other stakeholders to support success of research proposals and projects.

**Administration and Operations**
- Establish policies and standard operating procedures to support operational matters (human resources, information technology, procurement, shipping and deliveries, communications, and services)
- Provide positive and motivational management to administrative and operations staff (10+ FTE)
- Liaise with researchers and other stakeholders (e.g. funding agencies, Douglas Foundation, external collaborators) to support the execution of research projects
- Participate and support various committees
- Other duties as required

**Human Resources and Payroll**
- Support the human resources team and collaborate with CIUSSS partners for payroll processing; lead the development and implementation of an updated payroll system
- Liaise with union representatives and researchers with regards to human resources matters
- Support recruitment, orientation and performance management processes

**Travel Required**:

- Occasional

**Schedule**:

- Full-time, Monday - Friday (hybrid work a possibility)

**Salary**:

- To commiserate with education and experience

**Education and Experience**
- 5 years of management experience, including direct supervision of staff
- Knowledge of human resources, administrative and financial processes and controls
- Experience with project management
- Experience directly managing staff and working in a unionized environment
- Excellent knowledge of software solutions (Microsoft 365, project management software) and experience leveraging technology to improve efficiencies
- Knowledge of research lifecycle
- Tactful communication style; at ease speaking with a variety of stakeholders
- Fluently bilingual in both French and English (spoken and written)

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- VERDUN, QC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
