Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a
- **Ship Manager, Ship Repair**.-
**Qualifications**:

- Education:

- Completion of relevant College Technical/Vocational Training or extensive shipbuilding experience in lieu of post-secondary credentials
- Red seal or equivalent desirable
- Certification in a Continuous Improvement processes (i.e. Six Sigma) would be an asset
- LFP Leadership Fundamental Program is an asset
- Experience: 7+ years of previous experience, including a combination of the below:

- 5 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary productions/operations teams in complex commercial and industrial building or repair programs
- 3 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:

- Work experience in a trade
- Construction
- Production management
- Testing
- Experience managing rapidly changing complex projects and resolving technical issues would be beneficial
- Strong multi-disciplinary skills and a proven record of managing a unionized workforce in a safe and efficient manner
- Strong Human Relation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Resource allocation
- Constantly reviews allocation of resources and materials to ensure optimum utilization of those resources per the schedule and budget requirements
- Sets and communicates to the team of supervisors and sub-contractors, the resource requirements to meet schedule and budget objectives for:

- People (Internal and External Human Resources)
- Material
- Tooling/Equipment
- Project status updates (Scheduled and ad hoc)
- Team objectives
- Gathers production requirements (Customer and organization)
- Assesses capacity of team to meet those requirements and addresses any risks
- Creates and evaluates shipyard production metrics and leads efforts to develop solutions for production engineering and design challenges
- Supports the team in achieving team objectives as well as individuals in meeting their objectives as they pertain to:

- Safety
- Cost
- Quality
- Schedule
- Attends and supports supervisors in the delivery of daily objective/communication/update meetings
- Reports on team progress, deviations from plan and initiatives to correct any issues in team or individual performance
- Leadership
- Leads a team of supervisors across multiple disciplines and shifts
- With project objectives in mind, develops the leadership, managerial and technical skill of the team’s talent
- Proactively manages issues throughout the DWP
- Collaborates with other departments such as Engineering, Supply Chain Estimating and Planning to define and prioritize short and long term project/program support requirements
- Manages adherence to and leads continuous improvement initiatives for:

- Team performance
- Safety / safety awareness in conjunction with Health and Safety and Environmental policies
- Quality procedures and policies
- Technical analyses of production
- Test and integration processes
- Achieve results
- Leads team to exceed targets that are aligned with business unit and organizational objectives
- Ensures team always follows through on commitments and strives to go beyond “just getting it done”
- Proactively takes appropriate action to avoid risks and challenges before they become problems
- Models sound business practices ethics and values and inspires the team and peers to do the same
- Drive improvement
- Promotes an environment where challenges to status quo are expected; gains support for creative ideas and solutions
