Physician Navigator

As a Physician Navigator you will work alongside one ER physician during their shift. Your main role would be to make the physicians shift as efficient as possible by cognitively offloading all administrative and flow/nonmedical tasks from them, allowing them to focus solely on seeing patients and their medical care. _**You will not be involved in any direct medical care.**_

**Responsibilities include**:
1) Informing physicians which area patients are waiting to be seen and the status of the ER department
2) Pushing and pulling patients from waiting rooms to assessment rooms
3) Obtaining past medical history, medication lists and old charts from the EMR for patients
4) Keeping track of patients the physician has seen; flagging and ensuring timely reassessments
5) Prior to reassessing the patient, printing off laboratory and diagnostic imaging results
6) Organizing and gathering supplies needed for procedures
7) Carrying the physicians companion phone and paging all consultants in and out of the hospital
8) Organizing referrals and outpatient services

**Qualifications**:

- Preferred but not limited to having completed or currently pursuing a post-secondary education in a health related field
- Available for morning, afternoon, evening and weekends as needed
- Customer service and administrative experience is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Access to a car or close proximity to the hospital preferred, as shifts can be at times without public transport
- Flexible schedule and able to pick up last minute shifts if needed
- At least 1 year commitment is required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 12-18 per week

**Salary**: From $17.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Night shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Toronto, ON M6R 1B5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Shift availability:

- Day Shift (preferred)
- Overnight Shift (preferred)
- Night Shift (preferred)

Work Location: In person
