Summer Camp Counsellor

Discovery Land Camp is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counsellors for our Richmond Hill location for the upcoming Summer of 2024, spanning 7 weeks from July 8th to August 23rd. As a Camp Counsellor, you will play a vital role in facilitating the daily camp program for a group of co-ed campers aged 5 to 12 years old. Reporting directly to our Camp Director and collaborating effectively with the Location Coordinator, you will ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging camp environment, and liaise with parents/guardians as needed.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Supervise a designated group of children within a specific age range with enthusiasm and energy.
- Be prepared to lead a variety of active, quiet, and sports games. Discuss your list of games with the Camp Director prior to the camp’s start date.
- Understand and implement daily camp activities as per the provided schedule.
- Actively participate in all camp activities, including field trips and swimming supervision.
- Conduct regular camper headcounts, maintain accurate records, and file incident reports when necessary.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of camp equipment, supplies, and facilities after activities and at the end of each day.
- Understand all emergency procedures and enforce camp rules communicated prior to the camp’s start date.
- Be punctual for your shift and ensure that all materials for the day are ready 15 minutes prior to the start of camp.
- Provide regular feedback to the Location Coordinator, Camp Director, and parents regarding camper issues and needs.
- Counsellors will be required from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Early morning (8:00 am-9:00 am) or after-care (4:00 pm-5:00 pm) may be required.

**Job Requirements**
- Previous experience as a Camp Counsellor is required.
- It is required to be currently enrolled or to have graduated from a Bachelor's, ECE, or related Education program, or to have previous experience as a Sports Coach.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to coordinate and motivate campers.
- Responsible, organized, and adept at multitasking.
- High levels of initiative, enthusiasm, and confidence to work independently and within a team.
- Flexibility to adapt and lead during unforeseen circumstances such as limited space and weather conditions.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 7 weeks

**Salary**: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 33 - 38 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
