**Position Overview**

The primary responsibility of Homeless and Housed Justice Navigator is to provide support to housed, precariously housed and homeless and the affiliated Justice Stream working groups, taking a lead role in promoting and advocating for restorative justice, restorative practice and upstream prevention. This role will provide advocacy and assist the working groups to build connections with housing support services.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Provide both leadership and support to the Homeless Justice Stream working groups toward realization of a restorative region.
- Provides consultation to increase community capacity for restorative justice, restorative practice and upstream prevention in services and initiatives involving homeless populations.
- Ensure that work plans and initiatives are developed and provided consistent with the mission and vision of Community Justice Centre and to the requirements of funding partners.
- Promote the work of the Community Justice Centre in the community contributing to the evolution of restorative justice values and practices and emphasis on upstream approaches through public speaking and/or publications in partnership with the Region of Waterloo and consistent with the Communications Protocol
- Develop partnerships with other agencies, collaboratives, associations and grass roots community groups. Work with Navigators from other agencies in the region to provide team outreach services.
- Provide consultancy to Community Justice Initiatives staff providing direct services.
- Oversee and/or provide training for volunteers and/or community partners.

**Skills and Competencies**
- Post-secondary education in the social services field and /or experiential equivalent
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills gained from past experience working in the homelessness sector
- Relevant training or experience in restorative justice and upstream prevention approaches
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment and to collaborate within a group setting
- Ability to work in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner
- Skill and comfort with public speaking and training
- Strong understanding of justice and social service-related systems and experience addressing systemic change
- Maintains personal and professional integrity, and handles confidential information with discretion.
- Desires to grow in knowledge of homeless services and resources.
- Must have availability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid Ontario G class license and minimum $1M liability insurance
