Health and Safety Manager

Transcare is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Pacific Railway. Transcare Logistics is the largest and the fastest steel transload (rail to truck) facility in Canada. Canada's first automated distribution hub ensures unparalleled speed of service for coil, pipe or plate. We transload a variety of material from steel, drywall, lumbar and other commodities.
The Health and Safety Manager will plan, establish, implement and maintain a variety of health and safety programs to assure the highest degree of safety for all employees, contractors and visitors.
**Description**
- Develop, communicate, train, evaluate and maintain all Health and Safety plans, policies and procedures
- Plan and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Assist in development of Standard Operation Procedures
- Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and compliance
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly worksite inspections to assess hazards and risks in the workplace and ensure compliance
- Take lead to investigate accidents or incidents
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Monitor Commercial Motor Vehicle Registration (CVOR), ensure it is updated and corrective actions are taken where required
- Responsible for ISNetworld
- eRailsafe Management
- Analyze drivers’ daily log books to ensure compliance with related MOT requirements
- Recommend and develop solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Be an active member in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure the committee is operating to legislated requirements
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
- Develop, propose and achieve a Health and Safety annual budget
**Qualifications**
- BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field experience is preferred
- Valid qualifications in occupational health and safety
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety laws and regulations
- Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- Superior interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature and professional.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to maintain confidentiality at all levels.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
