Role: Preschool Lead
As the Preschool Lead, you will participate in re-imagining, overseeing, and evolving the functions of the Preschool team and bringing Vivo experiences to Life You will assist with providing leadership and mentorship to the team and support critical planning, organization, and administration functions to ensure the department is operating in an efficient and professional manner. You will participate in developing and creating preschool experiences for members and programs that connect and engage with our customers, community, and employees in ways that are impactful in driving and advancing our cause. You will engage with passion, provide mentorship and be accountable to the team to help deliver strong results and impact, proving a safe and customer centric experience for our customers and employees.
**Reports to**: Manager, Schools & Camps
**Hours**: 8-10 hours per week
**Responsibilities**:
- Demonstrates a high standard of effective supervision, risk assessment, best practices, and duty of care of all children within the Preschool program.
- Knowledgeable and respectful of Alberta Childcare Licencing regulations and Alberta Health and Safety Guidelines pertaining to Childcare facilities.
- Consistent contributor to a safe working environment by adhering to all Vivo Health and Safety requirements and Emergency Response Procedures.
- Participates in and helps build authentic, responsible relationships with the Preschool children, their families and all Vivo team members in order to provide an authentic uplifting community experience.
- Upbeat, approachable, and an engaging personality in order to inspire and provide participants with a sense of self and place.
- Explores and experiments with early childhood-based experiences as well as social, inclusive, learning environments for the Preschool program, Implements and measures new ways of building play based/ spontaneous experiences to provide children with a sense of self and place.
- Facilitates, programs, performs equipment set-up and partial take downs, participates and engages children in various styles of play and exploratory learning in planned and spontaneous gym based, outdoor and alternate environments.
- You will be required to actively participate in swimming, skating, wall climbing, and other forms of physical activity to assist with ratios.
- Work with the Manager to order supplies and equipment from the most appropriate and cost-effective sources available.
- Oversee the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of all the preschool areas.
- Planning days include bringing to life Child Led monthly planning, active based programing, organization of crafts and supplies, design of early learning stations, participation in Early Childhood Education Development, and cleaning and care of equipment.
- Support with the organization of Preschool Open Houses, including creation of plans, ordering of supplies and setting up the spaces.
- Create the monthly newsletter for preschool and communicate this to participant families after the final reviews.
- Work with the preschool team, collect classroom usage stats, program stats, and identify trends within these areas to confirm operational needs with the Manager.
- Assist the manager with all subsidy documentation and processing.
- Support with before & after care of camps when needed.
- Collaborate with the team to create special events, and materials that benefit the children, families and elevate organizational needs.
- Liaison with community organizations that are sourced to support children and their Families with Additional Needs.
- Coordinates monthly program duties; calendar, newsletter, supply shopping and keeping classroom files up to date.
- Support the Manager with the preschool annual classroom planning.
- Promptly complete administrative tasks related to tracking client sessions, collecting payments, processing subsidy, and inputting time in payroll.
- Support the manager with creating and presenting at preschool in-services.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary Diploma and/or University Degree in Early Childhood Education/Social Work/Education in addition to Minimum qualifications of a Level 2/Early Childhood Development Worker Certification equivalent.
- Ability to respect children’s and adult’s individualized personality and developmental capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in preschool programming.
